Shoes Clogs Repair: How to Replace a Broken Heel with a Wooden Heel?

Every month we receive enquiries from clog owners seeking advice on how to repair their broken plastic-sole footwear. In particular, many complain that their Dansko or Sanita clogs are crumbling after only a few months. The plastic foam used to make the soles disintegrates while the leather upper remains in good condition. Unfortunately, cobblers often do not know where to get spare parts or refuse to repair by lack of expertise. The clog, with its nails and staples, is a special type of shoe.

Clogs were originally made with wooden soles and true clog brands still use this organic material. Modern clogs with plastic soles may be cheaper, lighter and quieter, but they are not as comfortable or durable as those with wooden soles.

At OMES we specialise in the production of wooden heels in all shapes, sizes and widths. To repair your crumbling clog, we recommend that you (or your cobbler) use our CL50, CL51 or CL52 models.
The video below shows you how to replace a broken heel and restore the leather of an old pair of Dansko clogs.
