At OMES there is no official Head of Design because we encourage all employees to propose shoe models to make. We have a flat organisational structure, so a design can go from ideation to prototyping in few hours.
One summer morning our UK office got an email with a photo from the factory manager in Cameroon: “New model by Samuel yesterday. What do you think?”
We were excited. The prototype was rough, but we knew immediately this model would be the headliner for the 2019 collection.
Unfortunately Samuel passed away in January 2020 after a long and difficult illness.
An unofficial cofounder of OMES, he was one of the greatest shoemakers we had the chance to work with. His legacy lives on through the Samuela.
